- The tumor cannot be removed because of technical reasons or because there would be no benefit to the patient.

- Standard Treatment These tumors are best managed with radiation therapy . Surgery usually has no benefit at this stage.

- • Trials are examining the effectiveness of chemotherapy
- and/or radiation therapy before surgery. These treatments
- have occasionally converted some patients to an operable
- stage, but it is too soon to know if using this aggressive
- approach will increase the rate of cure.
